URI was called late on a Thursday night to respond to a fire on the 4th floor of an active adult senior living condominium complex in Philadelphia, PA. 42 units of the facility were damaged by water with 37 of them currently occupied.
As soon as fire and rescue personnel gave the ok to proceed, URI immediately constructed a temporary shrink wrap structure around the fire damaged areas to secure the building from the elements. In order to dry the units quickly and completely, the URI project manager recommended that two 25,000 CFM desiccant dryers be utilized. These units are custom built for URI and are the largest dryers available in the restoration industry. Having this equipment available allowed URI to mitigate further damage and the potential for the formation of mold resulting from the moisture intrusion.
In addition, URI field technicians installed temporary electrical panels, lighting and heaters on each floor along with providing security to the building. URI contents personnel organized the packing and moving of personal contents from the units so that they could be selectively demoed in preparation for reconstruction.
All units were demoed and completely dry in 60 days from the date of loss.
